CMS-50 MS MICROPHONE

 

The unique CMS-50 is a 5.4′′ compact stereo condenser shotgun that weighs only 4.6oz. The mic is especially suited to users that require the versatility and smooth stereo that an M-S design provides. Tight or wide patterns and premium sound, it can be camera mounted without interfering with even a short lens, yet still provide the quality of audio demanded by today’s professionals.

It is an M-S (Mid-Side) configuration which makes it possible to adjust the stereo width from mono to stereo at the mixer or in post production. The shotgun includes two outputs, a cardioid and figure of 8, which can be fed into the mixer for width adjustments. If both outputs are recorded then width can be managed in post. 

Like all Sanken shotguns it is rugged and dependable with a wide range of applications where sound clarity and noise rejection are critical requirements. 


CS-M1 MICROPHONE

The CS-M1 is the latest addition to the Sanken Production microphone range and sets new standards of sound quality for a short shotgun mic. From professional boom pole drama and film location recording to DSLR camera mounted applications, the CS-M1 delivers pristine quality audio with sharp directivity.

At only 4” in length and weighing less than 2 oz., the unobtrusive CS-M1 can be used in tight mic situations to faithfully capture the story. Like all Sanken shotguns it is rugged and dependable with a wide range of applications where sound clarity and noise rejection are critical requirements


CS-3E MICROPHONE

Innovative Technology with 3 Capsules for High Rejection

Conventional shotgun microphones use a line capsule array and a pipe with slits in front of the capsule to create high directivity by utilizing phase interference inside the casing. With this conventional design, high-directivity in the middle-low fre-quency range is not achieved, although high-directivity in the high frequency range is maintained. Conventional shotgun microphones are at a disadvantage because they invariably pick up unwanted sounds coming from the back and sides.

In order to solve this problem, conventional shotgun micro-phones designed for high directivity in the middle-low frequencies require a length of more than one meter (39 inches) in length. However, long shotgun microphones seriously affect mobility and are not ideal for field recording.

The remarkable performance of the CS-3e is based on the combination of a second-gradient and line microphone with three directional condenser elements, using new PPS (Poly-Gold-Phenylene-Sulfide) diaphragms to provide optimum humidity/temperature stability. The CS-3e is small and lightweight with a low-cut switch to satisfy the various needs of location and studio recording. The standard 19mm diameter permits use of a wide range of accessories developed for enhanced performance and field mobility.

The CS-3e virtually eliminates the proximity effect and maintains sharp directivity, while the sonic characteristics do not change with varied distances between sources and microphone. This is a significant advantage over all other directional microphones.

CUX-100K

The Ultimate Mic for Capturing the Full Breadth of Music

Perfect for capturing the sound of room or performance space in omni mode with the option of directional cardioid near and far. Take control of your sound with the CUX-100K.

In Omni mode, which is the same as the CO-100K, the CUX-100K captures spacial and ambient sounds to perfection typically at least 5 yards from source. With a stunning response up to 100kHz the mic enables subtle nuances of the performance to enhance recordings with a clarity and depth not possible with standard microphones.

In Cardioid (Far) mode, for closer recordings around 3 ~ 4 yards, the CUX-100K records a mix of moderate ambience and the main performance sources. In this mode, rear and the high frequency responses are effectively reduced, in order to reject too much ambience, to suit recordings in smaller spaces.

In Cardioid (Near) mode, less than 3 feet, the CUX-100K can act as the main source mic. In order to reject some of the ambience, the frequency response is limited to 50kHz. The frequency response is flat up to 50kHz, ideal for high quality music.

Because of the way in which analog to digital converters operate, the CUX-100K takes advantage of the heightened frequency response of the new hi-resolution digital audio formats. As X-Y, ORTF, or Decca tree overheads the CUX-100Ks excel, where fidelity is without compromise, to capture the spatial reality of a great sounding room.

CUW-180

High Definition X-Y for Instruments, Interviews, Overheads and Surround

Two exceptionally engineered cardioid condenser microphones combined in one compact body

The breakthrough CUW-180 is two exceptionally engineered cardioid condenser microphones combined in one compact body. Each of the two 180° capsules is independently adjustable with 15˚ detents. For stereo recording, such as common X-Y configurations, the precise alignment of both capsules maintains optimum on-axis response and phase coherence. The CUW-180 can also be used in interview situations between face-to-face participants, in a bi-directional figure 8 design, but with full independent control of each signal.

It is important to note that two microphone capsules in one body creates an ideal stereo configuration because the actual physical design takes into account the effect of the microphone body itself, as opposed to two separate microphones which are not physically designed to work adjacent to one another. The advanced physics employed in the operation of the CUW-180 utilizes extensive research conducted with NHK and furthers the Sanken legacy of incorporating new and innovative design concepts.

For stereo recording, such as common X-Y configurations, the position of both capsules maintains optimum on-axis response and phase coherence. For surround applications, two CUW-180 mics can capture 4 channels of Left, Right, Surround Left and Surround Right program simultaneously, with four independently adjustable signals.
